This quotation is an example of how the character interacts with her environment. She assumes leadership, makes decisions, dose not hesitate but at the same time those decisions are the best decisions for the family. Also this quote illustrates how Ma Joad is a very loving person and cares a lot for Granma even when she is dead.
"Ma said helplessly,” I dunno what to do. I got to feed the fambly. what`m I gonna do with these here?" pg 351
This quotation also illustrates the leadership of Ma in the family. Some Children got to her asking for food, first she thought in the future and how difficult will be to get food. Even so because of her kind heart she decides to give the children food even if Tom was hungry.
